Artist Statement :
My work focuses on what can be learned of a society through examinations of its non-human inhabitants. Through various drawing and painting techniques, I contemplate what the existence, removal, and remembrance of built or natural structures can mean to the essence of a place and its people. Imagery from both archival and contemporary sources factor heavily into this work. In addition to exploring concepts related to temporality, these references have led me to think about how ownership and control of both personal and societal narratives are produced via various forms of documentation.
