There are some great shows currently on view at the Woodmere Art Museum. Yesterday I dropped off the painting that will be included in this years Woodmere Annual. My mom and I took this as an opportunity to wander around the museum's galleries. In addition to a beautiful group show of women artists from the museum's permanent collection and an amazing retrospective of the work of Quita Brodhead, we were introduced to the joyous and texturally interesting paintings of self trained artist Jessie Drew-Bear. I was too busy looking to take notes but I think the piece below was entitled Girl Giving Love Apples to Giraffes, or something of that nature. And why wouldn't you give a love apple to a giraffe if you had the opportunity? It's a really wonderful show. On view through July 13th.
